COFFEE PAINTINGS

Painting organically in natural mediums explores a very different aesthetic from my otherwise colorful work.  My recent exhibit, Canines in Coffee, was executed strictly in the medium of coffee.  These paintings are in the soft tones of a palette dictated by the earth the coffee is grown in and the way it is picked, roasted, packaged and shipped.  Coffee is surprisingly tactile as paint and when working with it I feel a strong connection to the people involved in its production. Each type of coffee results in a slightly different earth shade which creates a variety of beautiful effects.  As a bonus, my studio aromatics are heavenly!
